About the millstone motif

This relic millstone is a common sight at McConnel’s Mill State Park in Lawrence County, PA. The park encompasses 2,546 acres of the spectacular Slippery Rock Creek Gorge and includes the gristmill built in 1852. The gristmill used power of the Slippery Rock Creek to grind grain for the community using these traditional millstones.
